The massive office tower rising at 200 West Street in Lower Manhattan was designed by Henry Cobb of Pei Cobb Freed & Partners, and cost more than $2 billion to develop. It was completed in 2009 to serve as the global headquarters of financial giant Goldman Sachs, with the help of $115 million in tax breaks and cash grants, and $1.65 billion in Liberty Bonds.

The building occupies two city blocks and is located close to Brookfield Place, the World Trade Center complex, the Conrad New York Hotel and the Verizon Building. The building’s office portion is fully occupied by Goldman Sachs, with only the ground-floor retail space available for lease.

Goldman Sachs’s headquarters at 200 West Street consists of 2.1 million square feet of Class A Lower Manhattan office space, with the first floor also housing retail space. The building rises 43 stories, with the base of the structure including six trading floors with a column-free span, a design made possible through the use of trusses and the location of the elevator bank at one end of the building. The tower is subject to a 64-year net ground lease held by the Battery Park City Authority, and is managed by JLL. Amenities include the Sky Lobby, a double-height space with skylights and river views, located on the 11th floor, as well as an auditorium, a cafeteria, a reading room and a fitness center.

The office tower at 200 West Street is conveniently located in the heart of Lower Manhattan, adjacent to Brookfield Place and nearby the World Trade Center complex. Its strategic location in one of Manhattan’s top business districts connects workers in the building to various shopping, dining and public transportation options, including subway lines, PATH trains and other options served by the new WTC transportation hub. 200 West Street also connects to the Conrad hotel via a covered pedestrian walkway.
